The ASPA Stroke Policy Charter provides a shared framework to support the development and implementation of comprehensive national stroke action plans across the Asia-Pacific region.

Stroke remains one of the leading causes of mortality and long-term disability in APAC, placing a substantial and growing burden on health systems, economies and societies. While significant progress has been made in clinical knowledge and treatment options, many countries continue to face persistent gaps in stroke policy, governance, coordination and equitable access to services across the full continuum of care. The purpose of this Charter is to help bridge the gap between evidence and policy action.

Drawing on international recommendations, regional experience and multi-stakeholder dialogue, the Charter sets out priority policy directions to strengthen stroke prevention, timely access to acute care, rehabilitation and long-term management. It is intended to support governments and stakeholders in translating evidence into coherent, actionable and sustainable national strategies, adapted to local health system contexts.
